Free Loops

I wish I had more time to make loops. I want to just groove on a bass for an hour and chop it up and be your bassist. Goodness gracious. Someday, someday.
Vocal Loops

I worked on some new vocal loops over there at Songface.com free vocal loops and it's a start - 4 very different sounding samples which you are free to alter and edit in any way and use for any purpose, royalty free. It's pretty nice of me. You're welcome. Just kidding - I just want to get my voice out there and hope to hear it back someday - that would be pretty neat, don't you think? I'll be uploading more free vocal loops as time goes on but for now my recording capabilities are pretty limited. I think I left 2 loops over there at 100bpm, one at 110bpm and one more at 120bpm. Have fun!

Sonar Drums

Well a few days ago I drove over an hour to buy an old drum-set for $50. Plus the $23.50 in gas and the slice of pizza. All-in-all a pretty good deal... they need to be cleaned up and fixed up a little, but it's a solid set. Made in Germany - apparently they started making Sonar drums in China at some point so this is definitely an older set.
Yep - some new heads on the drums, and I'll be good to go - all I need now are drum mics, a mixer, and some drum sticks! I might take a lesson here and there but I think once I warm up I'll be really jammin'.
I can't wait to start recording and making loops. I'm going to be producing my own songs, as well as making the loops available for anyone to use for re-mixes or their own projects at my free loops website. I think it's a good plan.
I also picked up an old electric organ for free. Some of the keys don't work but I'm working on fixing that. Luckily, my dad knows all about low-voltage electric work, and he's been a big help in figuring out how to fix the keys. I'm still not exactly sure how to fix it, but I know why it's not working, and that is half the battle.
Stay tuned for new music and new adventures in picking up free stuff off craigslist. Also wanted to mention that I've started posting the live shows around town at my little rock music scene website. If you're a local, and you know of any shows unlisted, just email me or go to the site's contact page, and I'll post the show as soon as I learn of it.

Listening to techno music

I'm listening to some kind of techno music right now. I found it on http://www.make-your-own-dance-and-techno-songs.com. It's alright. It's good background music - has some interesting parts.
I couldn't sleep. I've been awake since midnight thinking about what I want to do. I want to do so many things but I just need to hustle and get what I need first. It shouldn't be hard.
I've been thinking a lot about the book "one Red paperclip
" - and I'm starting to see the potential. I have a couple of bills to pay - but everything after that should put me closer towards my goals. I'm currently seeking a drum set, a piano, an electric guitar and amp, microphones, an acoustic guitar, and so much more - it makes my head spin. I think for the longest time now my goals have been aligning. Now they are aligned, and I'm in a much better position to do something about them. Wish me luck!

Going to school for music...

I've decided to start thinking about going to school. You see, I have not had great experiences with schools - probably my own fault, but I'm ready to try it again. All I ever come back to is the music... and so I think its time to consider music producer school or audio engineering college - something like that... If you have any experience in this, please leave a comment. I'd like to choose the right school this time around.
Since I decided to take songface.com to the next level and really start churning out loops, I've been giving it some serious thought. I'd like to get some better equipment and learn some things and really take my music to the next level.
Loop based music production is a blast! I love hitting the record button and seeing what I churn out, chopping it up, and seeing what I can come up with! I only hope I find the right program for myself - I will document my exploration of musical education opportunities here in this blog.
