Sonar Drums

Well a few days ago I drove over an hour to buy an old drum-set for $50.  Plus the $23.50 in gas and the slice of pizza.  All-in-all a pretty good deal... they need to be cleaned up and fixed up a little, but it's a solid set.  Made in Germany - apparently they started making Sonar drums in China at some point so this is definitely an older set.

Yep - some new heads on the drums, and I'll be good to go - all I need now are drum mics, a mixer, and some drum sticks!  I might take a lesson here and there but I think once I warm up I'll be really jammin'.

I can't wait to start recording and making loops.  I'm going to be producing my own songs, as well as making the loops available for anyone to use for re-mixes or their own projects at my free loops website.  I think it's a good plan.

I also picked up an old electric organ for free.  Some of the keys don't work but I'm working on fixing that.  Luckily, my dad knows all about low-voltage electric work, and he's been a big help in figuring out how to fix the keys.  I'm still not exactly sure how to fix it, but I know why it's not working, and that is half the battle.

Stay tuned for new music and new adventures in picking up free stuff off craigslist.  Also wanted to mention that I've started posting the live shows around town at my little rock music scene website. If you're a local, and you know of any shows unlisted, just email me or go to the site's contact page, and I'll post the show as soon as I learn of it.

Listening to techno music

I'm listening to some kind of techno music right now.  I found it on http://www.make-your-own-dance-and-techno-songs.com.  It's alright.  It's good background music - has some interesting parts.

I couldn't sleep.  I've been awake since midnight thinking about what I want to do.  I want to do so many things but I just need to hustle and get what I need first.  It shouldn't be hard.  One Red Paperclip: Or How an Ordinary Man Achieved His Dream with the Help of a Simple Office SupplyI've been thinking a lot about the book "one Red paperclip" - and I'm starting to see the potential.  I have a couple of bills to pay - but everything after that should put me closer towards my goals.  I'm currently seeking a drum set, a piano, an electric guitar and amp, microphones, an acoustic guitar, and so much more - it makes my head spin.  I think for the longest time now my goals have been aligning.  Now they are aligned, and I'm in a much better position to do something about them.  Wish me luck!
